SALT LAKE CITY — The Church’s seventh temple in California will open its doors for a public open house this summer.
The newly built temple in Sacramento, California, will be open to the public for tours beginning on Saturday, 29 July 2006, and continuing through Saturday, 26 August 2006, excluding Sundays.
Following the open house, the temple will be dedicated on Sunday, 3 September 2006. Four dedicatory sessions will be held.
The Sacramento California Temple will be the Church’s 123rd temple.
The temple will serve more than 80,000 Latter-day Saints in the greater Sacramento area.
Latter-day Saint temples
differ from the Church’s meetinghouses or chapels where members
meet for Sunday worship services. Temples are considered "houses of
the Lord" where Christ's teachings are reaffirmed through marriage,
baptism and other ordinances that unite families for
eternity.
