SALT LAKE CITY — The Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square will combine to perform a moving repertoire in an annual Easter concert this Friday, 29 March, at 7:30 p.m. in the Tabernacle on Temple Square. Craig Jessop, Mack Wilberg and Barlow Bradford will conduct.
The concert will feature five choruses from Handel’s Messiah: "Behold the Lamb of God," "Surely He Hath Borne Our Griefs," "And with His Stripes," "Lift Up Your Heads" and "Hallelujah." Traditional and popular anthems to be performed include "Wondrous Love," "He Is Risen!" and "Were You There?"
Woven into the performance will be several scriptural readings by prominent Utahns: Kathleen Barnes, Elder Merrill Bateman, LaVell Edwards, Carole Mikita, JoAnn Ottley and Scott Parker.
Standby tickets are still available at the Conference Center ticket office (door 4) between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. The majority of standby ticket holders are seated at Tabernacle events after reserved seat ticket holders are admitted. The Assembly Hall will also make the concert available to any additional patrons via large-screen television.
