The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is providing people of Hispanic descent a digital index of Mexico's 1930 census. In addition to including the information in the FamilySearch index for names, the Church is providing Ancestry.com with the information as well.
An Associated Press (AP) story by Laura Wides-Muñoz was posted on MSNBC recently, describing how Hispanics are using Church resources to trace their roots.
Genealogy is more than just recording names; it helps piece together individual identities to form the extended family puzzle.
FamilySearch has been gathering birth, death, marriage and census records since 1894. Latter-day Saint doctrine teaches that families can be together beyond mortality. They can be “sealed” together for eternity.
FamilySearch also has over 100 million other historic records from Mexico freely searchable—the largest collection for Mexico online. The records go back to the 1500s.
