Brigham Young University will host a conference on religious freedom next week for lawyers, students and the public to get an update on challenges in the United States and around the world. The 2015 Religious Freedom Annual Review is scheduled on the Provo, Utah, campus for July 6 – 8, 2015. This year’s theme is “Fairness for All.”
Leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have spoken often on the topic of religious freedom in recent months, urging Church members to become more informed on the issue.
The conference is sponsored by the International Center for Law and Religion Studies at BYU. Experts in politics, law and communications will offer presentations and workshops on topics such as cultural and political trends, religious issues in public schools and the use of social media in promoting religious freedom.
Speakers will include Robin Fretwell Wilson of the University of Illinois College of Law, W. Cole Durham Jr. of BYU’s J. Reuben Clark Law School, Utah Governor Gary R. Herbert and representatives from the Church.
Registration for the three-day conference is still open. It will be held at the BYU Conference Center on campus. Visit BYU’s website for more information on the conference.
