The New Zealand Web site of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints details a response by two full-time missionaries to help others when a deadly tsunami hit the Samoa Islands and Tonga on 29 September after an 8.3 magnitude earthquake.
The rescue took place in a village in Samoa that was leveled by the onslaught of floodwaters and debris. One bright spot was the story of how three young children survived with the help of Mormon missionaries.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints joined other organizations in responding with aid for the flooded region.
