A story posted on newsroom.lds.org Friday contains facts and photos from the cornerstone ceremony and the dedication of the Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple. Numerous Utah media outlets reported on the event.
The Deseret News reported:
President Thomas S. Monson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, celebrating his 82nd birthday today, led the cornerstone ceremony outside the temple's southeast corner, then presided over the first session at 9 a.m. and offered the dedicatory prayer at the end of the session.
A Salt Lake Tribune article said:
The lighthearted [cornerstone] ritual lasted about 20 minutes, and then the white-suited Monson entered the temple for the formal dedication in the Celestial Room, flanked by President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, his second counselor; Elder Dallin H. Oaks of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles; Elder William R. Walker, a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy and executive director of the church's temple department; and Elder Alan Layton, the first president of the new temple.

Dozens of young girls and boys joined President Thomas S. Monson for the temple cornerstone ceremony. A handful were called upon to participate in symbolically sealing the granite cornerstone.
Prior to the ceremony, children sang songs familiar to those who attend Primary and also spontaneously broke into "Happy Birthday" in honor of President Monson's birthday, which was Friday.
The ceremony preceded the first of nine dedicatory sessions for the Church's 130th temple. More than 600,000 people toured the temple during its open house.
