Temple Square Renovation Update: August 2024

Salt Lake Temple load transferred at east and west towers; newly reopened plazas undergo major renovation

While certain areas of Temple Square remain closed, visitors can enjoy the newly renovated Church Office Building Plaza and adjoining Main Street Plaza, which were completed earlier this year.

“It’s an oasis from the storms of the noise and chaos ... to feel the presence of the Savior,” said Jay Warnick, ground services manager for Church Headquarters Facilities.

Watch the video below to learn why the undertaking was necessary, the challenges that were overcome, and the remarkable transformation that turned this storied portion of Temple Square into a sanctuary of serenity.

Additionally, the concrete transfer girders surrounding the west towers of the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are complete.
