Sister Susan Holland Porter was sustained as President of the Primary General Presidency at the April 2022 general conference. Her service will begin on August 1, 2022. Until then, she will continue serving as First Counselor, a position she has held since April 2021.

Sister Porter was born July 31, 1955, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, and grew up in New York. She graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. On February 2, 1977, she married Bruce D. Porter, who later served as a General Authority Seventy. He passed away in 2016. They raised their four children in the eastern United States, Germany, and Utah and fulfilled Church assignments in Russia and in the Middle East.
Sister Porter has served in many callings, including as a Primary music leader, Gospel Doctrine teacher, member of a ward Young Women and Relief Society presidency, ward Relief Society president and member of a stake Relief Society presidency. She has been serving on the Relief Society general advisory council since 2017.
In addition to volunteering with various community and civic organizations, Sister Porter has worked as a lab assistant for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and as a part-time math teacher.
