The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has released the artistic renderings for houses of the Lord in England, Nevada and Texas. A site location for the Vancouver Washington Temple has also been released.
Birmingham England Temple
The artistic rendering for the Birmingham England Temple has been published. This house of the Lord was announced by President Russell M. Nelson during the closing session of general conference in April 2022.
The site location for this temple was released in December 2023.
There are two other temples in the United Kingdom: the historic London England Temple (dedicated in 1958) and the Preston England Temple (dedicated in 1998).

The preaching of the restored gospel in Britain began in 1837 as missionaries, including two members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, began teaching in Preston. During the 19th century, more than 52,000 converts emigrated from Britain to join the main body of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the United States. By 1870, nearly half of all of Utah’s population consisted of British immigrants.
Lone Mountain Nevada Temple
An artistic rendering of the Lone Mountain Nevada Temple has been released.
The site location was released in December 2022. This house of the Lord will be constructed on a 19.8-acre site located southwest of Hickman Avenue, between North Grand Canyon Drive and Tee Pee Lane in Las Vegas, Nevada. Plans call for a three-story temple of 70,194 square feet.

Nelson announced the Lone Mountain Nevada Temple in October 2022. “May you focus on the temple in ways you never have before,” he said after he announced 18 new temples, including the one in Lone Mountain. “I bless you to grow closer to God and Jesus Christ every day.”
This house of the Lord will be the fourth in the state. The Las Vegas Nevada Temple was dedicated in 1989, and the Reno Nevada Temple was dedicated in 2000. Ground was broken for the Elko Nevada Temple in 2022.
Nevada, a state in the Western U.S., is home to more than 182,000 Latter-day Saints in over 360 congregations. The first Latter-day Saints in Nevada arrived in 1852. In 1855, 30 men were called to establish a mission at the Meadows in southern Nevada. A prosperous silver mine was discovered and cultivated there.
Several other colonies prospered in Nevada from 1865 to the 1890s. In the late 1920s, many Utahns moved to Nevada in search of better economic conditions.
The first house of the Lord in Nevada, the Las Vegas Nevada Temple, was dedicated in 1989 as “an oasis of peace and light.”
The McKinney Texas Temple
The First Presidency has released the artistic rendering for the McKinney Texas Temple.

In addition to the McKinney Texas Temple, the Lone Star State has seven other houses of the Lord in operation, under construction, or announced. These are the Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, Lubbock, San Antonio and McAllen Texas Temples.
Church growth in Texas has been rapid in recent decades, with more than 132,000 Latter-day Saints in 1985 growing to just over 210,000 in 2000. Today, Texas is home to more than 378,000 members in nearly 750 congregations.
Vancouver Washington Temple
The First Presidency has released the location of the Vancouver Washington Temple. This house of the Lord was first announced in October 2023 by President Nelson.
This temple will be built on a 15.11-acre site located at the Northwest corner of SE 20th Street and SE Bybee Road intersection, Vancouver (Camas), Washington. Plans call for a multistory temple of approximately 43,000 square feet. This will be the city’s first temple.

Washington is home to more than 281,000 Latter-day Saints in 489 congregations.
In 1854, four missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in California were sent to labor in the Washington and Oregon territories. Enough converts joined to form a congregation along the Lewis River.
Many Church members helped with Washington’s railroad construction for the Northern Pacific Oregon Short Line in the 1880s. In 1930, Church membership in Washington was 1,900 in eight congregations, with chapels in Everett, Spokane, Seattle and Olympia. Many members flocked to the state with the completion of the Grand Coulee Dam on the Columbia River in the early 1940s. The first temple was completed in Seattle in 1980.
Latter-day Saints consider each temple a house of the Lord and the most sacred place of worship on earth. Temples differ from the Church’s meetinghouses (chapels). All are welcome to attend Sunday worship services and other weekday activities at local meetinghouses. The primary purpose of temples is for faithful members of the Church of Jesus Christ to participate in sacred ceremonies such as marriages, which unite families forever, and proxy baptisms on behalf of deceased ancestors who did not have the opportunity to be baptized while living.
