The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has released the artistic renderings for three houses of the Lord: two in Brazil and one in California.
Londrina Brazil Temple
An artist’s rendering of the Londrina Brazil Temple has been released.
President Russell M. Nelson announced the Londrina Brazil Temple in October 2022. The site location for this temple was published in November 2022.
Ribeirão Prêto Brazil Temple
An artist’s rendering of another temple in Brazil has been released.
President Russell M. Nelson announced the Ribeirão Prêto Brazil Temple in October 2022. The site location was released in November 2022.
Today, there are nearly 1.5 million Latter-day Saints in Brazil in more than 2,175 congregations. In April 2017, President Russell M. Nelson said, “Brazil is part of the heart of the Church.”
Bakersfield California Temple
The Bakersfield California Temple was one of 15 temples announced by Church President Russell M. Nelson in April 2023. “Jesus Christ is the reason we build temples,” he said, as he counseled members to “draw closer to Him.” The site location was announced in July 2023.
California is home to nearly 730,000 Latter-day Saints in more than 1,130 congregations.
Temples differ from the Church’s meetinghouses (chapels). All are welcome to attend Sunday worship services and other weekday activities at local meetinghouses. The primary purpose of temples is for faithful members of the Church of Jesus Christ to participate in sacred ceremonies that unite families forever.
