President Russell M. Nelson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints visited Latter-day Saints and others in Southeast Asia from November 17, 2019, to November 21, 2019. He and Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles ministered in Vietnam, Cambodia, Singapore and Indonesia.

President Nelson spoke Sunday to assembled Saints in Hanoi’s JW Marriott Grand Ballroom of his gratitude to the government for the privilege to gather and worship. Just days before his arrival in Vietnam, the government granted the Church another important recognition. On November 14, 2019, Madam Thieu Thi Huong of the Vietnam Government Committee for Religious Affairs presented an official certificate authorizing Latter-day Saints to conduct religious activities in the country, in compliance with a new religious law established in 2018.
President Nelson and Elder Christofferson spoke to Church media Monday about the future of the Church in Vietnam.

President Nelson brought glad tidings to hundreds of gathered Church members at the Premier Centre Sen Sok in Phnom Penh. He unveiled an artist’s rendering of what will become one of the Church’s most sacred worship spaces — the Phnom Penh Temple.

The prophet of the global Church spoke at the Bukit Timah Singapore stake center during a visit to the island nation. “Now is not only a time for us to look back, it is the time to look forward with excitement to the future,” President Nelson said. “What a glorious future is in store for you.”

President Nelson addressed Latter-day Saints gathered in Jakarta for a devotional at the Ritz-Carlton hotel. The devotional was broadcast to all congregations in the country. He also met with Indonesia Vice President Ma'ruf Amin and Zannuba Ariffah Chafsoh Rahman ‘Yenny’ Wahid, an Islamic activist and Indonesian politician.
