On Thursday, 24 April, Latter-day Saint leaders Elder L. Tom Perry and Elder Ronald A. Rasband met with senior leaders of the Seventh-day Adventist Church at their worldwide headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland. Elder Perry and Elder Rasband were warmly received, enjoyed a tour of the faith’s headquarters facilities and discussed opportunities for partnering on religious freedom initiatives.

Both faiths expressed the desire to defend the freedoms that allow faith to flourish in society. Elder L. Tom Perry of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles highlighted the need to "find a way to keeping faith alive in the 14- to 35-year-olds so that faith will grow with them, so they’ll have a foundation for their life."
Elder Rasband of the Presidency of the Seventy said, “In a world that needs more faith, more focus on family and now a defense of religious freedom, we are trying to join with people of good faith like you to help fight these very basic battles that are going on in the world.”
Adventist Church Vice President Lowell Cooper expressed appreciation for the visit and told Elder Perry and Elder Rasband that their church values the continuing dialogue about the importance of protecting common values.
