Latter-day Saint youth in the United States and Canada will be able to attend For the Strength of Youth (FSY) conferences again beginning in the summers of 2022 and 2023. The conferences, provided by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, were postponed over the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Many congregations have organized youth camps for teens this summer on the local level to give the young men and young women a chance to reconnect with their leaders and each other.
When the FSY conferences resume next year, local congregations in the U.S. and Canada will be able to participate as assigned (every other year). Youth may attend FSY conferences scheduled for their stake (group of congregations) beginning the year they turn 14 until the year they turn 18.
The FSY conferences are modeled after Brigham Young University’s Especially For Youth (EFY) conferences. FSY conferences include activities, devotionals and classes designed to help the youth strengthen their faith in Jesus Christ. FSY conferences in the U.S. and Canada are provided by the Church and held locally with the support of BYU.
FSY conferences have been held extensively outside of the U.S. and Canada for many years. Areas outside of the U.S. and Canada will continue holding FSY conferences under the direction of the Area Presidency.
The FSY conferences are staffed with young single adult counselors ages 19–30 who are recommended by their local leaders. All FSY counselors have a strong testimony of the Savior and His restored gospel and promote principles consistent with Church doctrine. Leaders might also consider potential counselors’ abilities to help youth understand the scriptures and willingness to uphold dress and appearance standards.
FSY conferences are typically held at college or university campuses. Youth stay overnight in the campus dorms. Youth in stakes scheduled for an FSY conference in 2022 will be invited to begin registering online within the first quarter of 2022.
