Father's Day

All rights reserved.Father’s Day is a time set aside to honor fathers — whom Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles describes as “fundamental in the divine plan of happiness” and, along with being a husband, “the highest of masculine roles” (“Fathers,” April 2016 general conference).
Today, those honored may include husbands, stepfathers, brothers, uncles, our Heavenly Father, and other father figures and other masculine role models.

Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles posted on social media about the powerful examples of righteous fathers in the scriptures, such as King Benjamin.
“I am grateful for faithful men, who as devoted disciples of Jesus Christ, diligently love, teach and provide Christlike examples for family members, friends and associates,” he said.

The Friend magazine posted a Father's Day tribute and reel on its Facebook page:
“Fathers are fundamental in the divine plan of happiness,” the video begins, also drawing from Elder Christofferson’s general conference message.
In a #HearHim video posted on Facebook in the days leading up to Father’s Day, Trevor, a father, shares how the love of his children reminds him of God’s love for him.
“When I was a teenager, I never fantasized about being a dad. I never thought that the greatest thing that would happen to me was because of my children,” he said. “The love I feel from them is unconditional. It's constant. It's always there, which to me is how God loves us.”
The Relief Society Worldwide account also shared excerpts of Elder Christofferson’s same talk: “Perhaps the most essential of a father’s work is to turn the hearts of his children to their Heavenly Father.”
