On February 8, 2025, the Jamaican community welcomed Elder Patrick Kearon of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on his first visit to the country. This historic stay was not only a moment of encounter but also a time to strengthen the faith and spirit of those present.
Accompanied by his wife, Elder Kearon was greeted warmly by young people, missionaries, members and local leaders, who gathered to enjoy his apostolic wisdom and spiritual guidance. Next to Elder Kearon was Elder Vern P. Stanfill, General Authority Seventy, accompanied by his wife, Alicia, as well as Elder Paul H. Jean Baptiste and Elder Claude R. Gamiette, both Area Seventies in the Caribbean.
Jamaica, the third-largest island in the Caribbean, witnessed the inspiring presence of Elder Kearon as he presided over various ecclesiastical activities during his stay in the region. In these meetings, messages of hope, love and faith were shared, strengthening the hearts of all those present.
In the words of Elder Kearon, we remember the scripture in Isaiah 41:10, which tell us, “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” This message of strength and protection resonated in the hearts of the assembled, reminding them that they are never alone in their walk of faith.
At the end of his visit, Elder Kearon invited the members to reflect on Ephesians 6:10, which urges us to “be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.” This call to persist in the faith, exercise our spiritual muscles and increase in light, reminds us of the importance of standing firm in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
The Apostle’s first visit to Jamaica was a blessed and inspiring moment, where the faith community strengthened and renewed its commitment to the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ.
