Thomas S. Monson, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, spoke to thousands of Brigham Young University students at the Marriott Center on Tuesday. The 16th president of the Church said he looked forward to the assignment of speaking to the student body, telling them, “What a glorious sight you are.”
“You are in the prime of your lives. You’re on the cutting edge of progress. You live in a time of extreme difficulties but also a time of exceptional opportunities,” President Monson said. “I think the nation and the world have never been beset with a greater variety of challenges to meet and problems to solve. And you, and those similar to you, are destined to meet those challenges.”
President Monson also told the students that they are “the heart and soul” of many parents around the world. He also shared spiritual insights and humorous anecdotes related to nine prior presidents of the Church.
