Church Participates in Global Interfaith Gathering in Salt Lake City

Religious leaders from all over the world, including from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, are in Salt Lake City for the 2015 Parliament of the World’s Religions, one of the world’s largest interreligious gatherings. Elder L. Whitney Clayton, senior president of the Presidency of the Seventy, and government leaders from Utah participated in the opening ceremony and procession on Thursday evening. Elder Clayton offered a prayer and some brief remarks.

Some 50 faiths from 80 nations have gathered for the event, which is back in the United States after more than 20 years.

The interfaith gathering runs October 15–19, 2015, at the Salt Palace. Recent meetings have been held in Australia, Mexico and Spain.
