The headquarters for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints becomes a beehive of activity in the days preceding its worldwide general conference.
The 177th semiannual general conference of the Church begins Saturday, 6 October 2007, but the preparations for the conference began weeks earlier. This photo essay highlights some of that activity, from adjusting lights on Temple Square to arranging chairs on the Conference Center stage.
The hundreds of hours spent preparing for general conference result in two days in which senior Church leaders give talks on Church principles and doctrines. Leaders also use this time to share their personal feelings about the gospel and Jesus Christ. Mormons worldwide find these talks to be inspiring, educational and instructive, helping them apply the gospel in their everyday lives.
